Our Annual Report

Dear Friends,

At Prevent Child Abuse Arizona, our mission is clear: to strengthen families across Arizona.

Child maltreatment is a complex issue that cannot be solved through intervention alone. While stepping in when children are in danger is vital, it is not enough. We don't want to merely manage the problem—we want to get ahead of it. We want to stop it before it starts.

The key to preventing child adversity is supporting families. When parents face overwhelming stressors, including financial strain or lack of access to necessary resources, the risk of abuse and neglect increases. By alleviating these burdens, we can create stable, nurturing environments in which children can thrive.

That’s why Prevent Child Abuse Arizona exists: to improve how Arizona supports families. Through our trainings, we equip professionals with the skills to better serve families. By convening partners across the state, we design more effective systems of support that meet the unique needs of Arizona's families.

Our annual report serves as both a reflection on the past year's efforts and a heartfelt thank-you to all our partners. Your continued support and collaboration are vital in advancing this critical work, and together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of children and families across Arizona. Because when we do better for families, we do better for Arizona.

With gratitude,

Claire Louge

Executive Director

It Passed!

On December 21, the Senate voted to pass the Protecting America’s Children by Strengthening Families Act (H.R. 9076). This bill reauthorizes Title IV-B (federal child welfare funding) for five years and the program is tasked with:

·      helping prevent child abuse and neglect

·      keeping families together, and

·      ensuring children are not separated from their parents solely because of poverty, among other reforms.

Thank-yous go a long way in advocacy. Please take 30 seconds to reach out to your members of Congress today to thank them for this needed reform and investment for children and families!

TODAY IN PREVENTION

Healthy Parents, Healthy Babies (HPHB)

The Healthy Parents, Healthy Babies (HPHB) initiative tackles the national maternal and infant health crisis, which disproportionately affects people of color, especially those experiencing homelessness or housing instability. HPHB offers actionable strategies to reduce racial disparities, improve housing stability, and enhance maternal and child health outcomes.
