Wow, what a month this has been. January certainly came in like a lion up here in Felton. I hope all of you are well and safe at this point. We were cut off from the grid for 8 days, and we are well aware of how much worse troubles other folks around the county were facing. I really want to thank all of the first responders, as well as the folks from PG&E, Davey Tree, and other contractors who have been out working in the cold and rain, in uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous conditions, to help us all get through this.
Having lived through earthquake, fire, and rainstorms in my time here, one thing I know for sure about Santa Cruz is that it is resilient, strong, and committed to keeping its sense of community. Already the rebuilding is underway. I invite you to help by reaching out to organizations like the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County and the Second Harvest Food Bank who are working very hard every day to help minimize the negative impacts of the storms and to feed people and support them as they begin rebuilding. I know they would be happy to receive a gift of your time and resources. We all pull together here.
