Wheels of Blessings January 2026 Newsletter | | Team One - January 14th Updates | | |
Thanks to our supporters, donors, and friends, Wheels of Blessings' new year begins. Especially in this cold, icy, snowy January, we are running out of coats, hats, gloves, shoes, socks, scarves, backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags.
If you can help or donate any of these items, please contact wheelsofblessings@gmail.com or 704-675-1148.
| | Many thanks to You 1st Pharmacy, which has a "Wheels of Blessings Needs List" and drop-off bin for customers to donate. Also, for the hard-boiled eggs and saltines every month! | |
WoBle Extreme Weather Team
With the extreme weather, members of our teams have been going outside of our regularly scheduled trips with soup, coats, care bags, etc. On the day of the ice storm, January 24, various members took supplies to Unity Baptist Church in Gastonia, which has been open as a warming shelter on nights when the temperature is 32 or below and during the ice storm, open 24 hours. Other team members took boxes of fresh Little Caesars' pizza to one of the camps.
The day before the snowstorm, thanks to a donation of blankets from the Sisters of Mercy and their IT office, and coats from Rev. Burke of Gaston Gateway, we went out again.
Team 1 member Sr. Joann Ury, upper right, is a tremendous help each month

We ask for special prayers for Laura, pictured below on January 14. Laura was hit by a car on January 27 and is in the ICU in critical condition with traumatic brain injury, brain swelling, and is on a ventilator. A special thanks to Danielle Webb of Displaced Roses, a non-profit serving the homeless, who spent hours trying to track down to which hospital in Charlotte Laura was taken. Danielle and our friend Jackson are working to locate Laura's family.
Please pray for Laura.

Temps were down in the mid-20s, with some snow and ice in places, but later warmed into the 30s. Our crew consisted of Mary & Nancy and Patricia & John. Jean Marie provided oatmeal and ham salad containers as an added meal bonus.
At the Smyre camp, we connected with 3 young men who walked through snow and ice to reach us to take food, clothes, coats and shoes back top the camp. They share that some camps have small heaters to keep warm, but he didn't have one.
We provided meals to several at Franklin Square along with socks, underwear and heavy shirts.

Mary found an old friend, John, at the corner of Franklin and Cox Road. He told us his suitcases with all his belongings had been stolen. He took socks, underwear and a heavy shirt, but needed a pair of size 13 running shoes/sneakers. None of ours fit him. However, the boots and socks he was wearing looked like they would keep his feet warm.
Lots of "God Bless You's!" sent our way from the many appreciative folks we ministered to today. Another good day!
Great to be a part of it!
