APICS Dictionary Word of the Month

inventory turnover

The number of times that an inventory cycles, or "turns over," during the year. A frequently used method to compute inventory turnover is to divide the average inventory level into the annual cost of sales. For example, an average inventory of $3 million divided into an annual cost of sales of $21 million means that inventory turned over seven times. Syn: inventory turns, turnover.

January  2018

President's Message:

The PAN APICS executive committee hopes you all had a great holiday season and a Happy New Year!

This is the last week to sign up for our courses that begin in January. We encourage you to check out our suite of classes and sign up so you can obtain your CSCP, CPIM, or CLTD.   You can review all of our offerings here . If you are not sure which certification is right for you, please see our write up here.

I also want to take the time to say that we have opened up registration for our annual flagship event, the MEGA meeting, which sponsored by all of our local supply chain organizations. This year's speaker is Thomas Derry, CEO of the Institute for Supply Chain Management (ISM). His speech is titled, "Winter into Spring: A Time of Endings & New Beginnings for Supply Chains," where he will focus on how logistics and supply chain will be changing over the next decade.

We also have some other upcoming events we are looking forward to. Next week, we are hosting a limited enrollment tour of the Philadelphia Distilling Company on January 18th. In addition, we have the following events coming up: a networking event on February 22nd at the Field House in Philadelphia, the aforementioned MEGA Meeting on March 14th, and a lunch and tour of Holt Logistics on April 24th.

We hope to see you at one of these events in the coming months!

Sincerely,
  Dale McClung
