Open House

Thank you for coming out to the new Sparrow House center during our Open House! It was a fun evening and our hearts are full from all the support in helping our friends in Newark who are experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

We look forward to partnering with you in this near year and making a positive impact on many more lives!

Sam and Jamie Move Home

After living in shelters in several different cities, Sam* and Jamie* and their family of three little ones received the housing assistance they needed at their last shelter in Newark. They experienced the extreme joy and relief to get their own place, only to realize they had nothing to bring with them except some clothing.

We met Jamie at the Newark YMCA, now a shelter, and quickly put a plan in place to get their home furnished and ready for occupancy. Through donations of furniture, household items, bedding, curtains, a welcome basket filled with bathroom necessities, and more, their apartment became a home.

Jamie came from generational homelessness, and through tears of joy she explained that this was the first time in her life she owned anything more than her clothes. She and Sam could not stop smiling. Thank you to all who donated items for this lovely family!

St. Vincent de Paul Society

Many thanks to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Corpus Christi Parish, Chatham for collecting and making baked goods and treats for the folks we serve!

They brought a lot of joy and there were many excited smiles! We are grateful for your thoughtfulness!

Monte de Santidad

A warm thank-you to the Monte de Santidad youth group for making 100 sandwiches for our friends in Newark!

Sandwiches are a popular item among those we serve and they were received with enthusiasm! We appreciate the youth group's dedication and time spent for people in need.

Art Gala to Benefit Sparrow House

Sparrow House's neighbor, Edward Obermueller Fine Art, is hosting an Art Gala to unveil new creations and show existing artwork. Edward's talent knows no bounds, and it is a delight to see his varied interpretations.

Edward is generously donating 5% of proceeds from each sale of art to the mission of Sparrow House.
