This is what Clara has to say about her work:
Everyday there are countless factors that influence my artwork.
For me, the art of seeing is based on an intuitive recognition of the essential spirit of a place or phenomenon. The creative process and its inherent surprises layered textures and colors enables me to explore what can be seen and what needs to be imagined.
Many of my monotypes and paintings either; oils, acrylics, or watercolors are mostly inspired by a personal interaction with nature and by sites that are personally significant. I Believe that the key to my creative energy is mostly influenced by many of my childhood memories. I grew up on a farm in central, Massachusetts where much of my young life was spent exploring the woodlands that were so plentiful around our home. When I was a child, I saw the forest as an enormous house that held endless secrets and mysteries, a veritable feast for the imagination. My six siblings and I would climb large rock formations, trek through ravines crawling with wildlife, twist our way into winding wild grape arbors to find secret hiding places and build safe homey spaces. I still spend much of my time walking in the woods and looking for those wild familiar places to inspire me.
