Freezin' for a Reason

To all American Greyhound Supporters;

First, let me say, THANK YOU to all of the participants and donors for our recent 13th Annual Polar Bear Plunge!!

Because of your contributions, it shows that you understand just how important donations are to the livelihood and future of American Greyhound. Donors like you help make our mission of helping as many sighthounds as possible a true reality.

We had 16 plunge participants signed up and raising money, 119 donors donating that money and because of the weather, we had 6 brave souls actually run into Lake Michigan and dive into the frigid waters to do their part as well.  Our youngest plunger this year, 11 year old Liam Coggins, was actually the very first AG plunger to drop down and go under the icy Lake Michigan water.

Again, thank you! We appreciate your support so much.
Barbara Coggins

Did you know that the handlers that participate in TGIE love hearing about the hounds after their adoption? If you've adopted a dog that has been through the TGIE program, you can send an update that will be passed along to the handlers by emailing

It's Action Time Again- For the 10th Time!

Now that we are past the Holidays and into the New Year, it's time to start getting ready for the biggest night of the year for American Greyhound-our Winning Hearts Benefit Auction. This year's auction will take place on May 2nd, again at the Avalon Manor, in Merrillville, Indiana. And with this year's event being our 10th annual, we intend to really put on a show.   But, to make this year's auction everything we want it to be, we're going to need some help.

We'd like you to be a part of this year's auction committee. And, if that sounds like something you'd be interested in, we'd sure like to hear from you.

What are we looking for you may ask. Well, we need help with acquisition of items, we're putting together some sponsorship opportunities this year (so we can direct more of the funds raised that evening directly into American Greyhounds Treasury and helping hounds) and we'll need some help with that, there will be dozens of tasks that will need to be taken care of to put it all together, and of course, we'll need help setting up the event on the morning of the auction.

If you'd like to be a part of this year's committee, please contact Christina Robbins at If you have questions about committee duties, call Christina at (219)730-1356 or Jeff Coggins at (219)771-0892.

We're really looking forward to making this the best and biggest auction to date and really look forward to having as many of you as possible be part of the committee.
