Both Moab and Castle Valley Libraries will be open on New Year's Day!
New Year, New Library Cards!
Due to changes in the Utah State Library's requirements to access services, the Grand County Public Library will be issuing new library cards to all patrons in 2020.

Kick off the new year with a visit to the library to to pick up your new FREE library card. Library cards provide amazing access to books, movies, magazines, audiobooks, mobile devices, music, language learning, downloadables, and SO MUCH MORE!
Old library cards will not work after March 31, 2020. Please contact the library if you have questions or need assistance. 435-259-1111.
KZMU Radio Book Club
We will be on air with Back of Beyond Books at 5 PM on Monday, January 6th for KZMU's monthly Radio Book Club.

We'll discuss what we're reading, bestsellers, and upcoming local literary events.
Musical Story Hour

Our first Musical Story Hour for 2020 will feature a local group of advanced string students under the direction of violinist Debra Holland.  Join us for an hour of live music, storytelling, and crafts.

Free Movie: The Long Walk of Nelson Mandela

This film tells the story of the complex man behind the myth, probing Mandela's upbringing, character, leadership and his singular pursuit of his life's mission.

Sheng Zhen in China

Sheng Zhen Meditation teachers Lisa DeRees and Dr. Don Leathers will share their experience presenting Sheng Zhen Meditation forms for the first time at an international Tai Chi festival in China. With roots in ancient China, Sheng Zhen Meditation cultivates health, vitality and longevity. Please join Lisa and Don for a colorful and experiential discussion about creating a bridge for global healing.

This month, the Castle Valley Book Group is reading Never Home Alone: From Microbes to Millipedes, Camel Crickets, and Honeybees, the Natural History of Where We Live by Rob Dunn.

New participants are always welcome!
New Books in Spanish!
Our Spanish section is growing! We're adding lots of new fiction and nonfiction books in Spanish every week, so stop by and check some out!
There will be no Toddler Story Time during the month of January...
Instead there will be open play time for toddlers on Wednesday mornings in the Moab Library Large Meeting Room, with special toys, blocks, a crawl-through tunnel and more. Toddler Story Time will resume in February.
Kids Cafe @ Your Library
Free for all children up to 18 years old

Serving after school Monday - Friday
from 3:30 to 4:30 PM

Serving lunch on Saturdays and Non-School Weekdays from 12:00 to 1:00 PM
STILL NEEDED: Kids Cafe volunteer for Friday afternoons!

Kids Cafe volunteers will partner with library staff and spend approximately 1.5 hours (3:15 - 4:45 PM) per day setting up, serving, and cleaning up. We would prefer volunteers who can make at least a three-month, one-day-per-week time commitment to the program. Volunteers need to be willing to complete a background check. Volunteers will not be preparing any food and a food handlers permit is NOT required.
