Eurythmy Fairy Tale- Baba Yaga (Performed by the 11th Grade)
January 24, 6 pm Altadena Auditorium.
Community welcome, all ages. Suggested donation $10.
Going on the road to Sparrow and Pasadena!

In Russian  fairy tales Baba Yaga  flies around in a mortar, wields a pestle, and dwells deep in the forest in a hut usually described as standing on chicken legs.  Baba Yaga  may help or hinder those that encounter or seek her out, may play a maternal role and has associations with forest wildlife.

Current parents are ALWAYS welcomed to join all or part of the monthly "A Day at the Waldorf School" tour, which takes place just once-a-month. It's a great view into what your own child is doing in class, and a peek into the future when you visit the classes above your child's age group. Cap it off by interacting with our High School students, which is a great confirmation of the benefits of Waldorf education and how well prepared the older students are for college, and for life!

We have an amazing community at WSSD, we are so grateful for every donation we receive. This month we would like to give special thanks to our anonymous donors.

We received:
  • a light weight and quieter tiller over winter break for our EC yard and digging pit. Now Facilities is able to work the sand as needed instead of only during the longer breaks.
  • a generous donation to our Marketing Budget

We also had many wishes granted for our amazing teachers during the Winter Faire!! The community has been extremely generous! Thank you!!!

WSSD Flag Football Champions!

We beat Monarch 31-20 in a highly competitive championship game on Tuesday December 10th. We had an unbelievable turnout by our parents, students and staff.
It was our first championship since we started playing in the middle school league 5 years ago. I was very proud of how our players progressed throughout the year and how they overcame many obstacles and showed great character and support for each other throughout the season.

Winter Faire Recap
Thank you to everyone that helped make our Winter Faire a huge success! We had many busy activities and crafts including Cookie Decorating, Candle Bases, Cake Walk and Petting Zoo, and the most popular activity was Crystal Digging! The kids sure loved it and not even the rain deterred them!

The other huge hit every year is the Snow Fairy Market. Thank you so much to Jodie Chin and everyone on the Handwork Committee. You always provide such a beautiful space for the children to do their holiday shopping..not only that but you are busy all year making the treasured Pocket Lady's handmade gifts!

The main focus of Winter Faire is threefold. 1 Community - a special winter-themed celebration that reaches out to the wider Waldorf community, 2 Giving Tree - to raise funds that go directly to our dedicated teachers 3. School Fundraiser - one of three annual events that help bridge the gap between tuition and program costs.  (Annual Giving, Winter Faire and the Spring Gala).

Winter Faire 2019 netted a total of $23,096 of which $14,215 went straight to the teachers from Giving Tree donations! WOW! That is so incredible, thank you!!

I also want to say thank you to each of the amazing Winter Faire Committee members, they all stepped up in ways that I couldn't have imagined! What a team!! So excited for next year.
