Stewardship 2020: Gratitude in Action
By Pastor Liz Armstrong

The Vestry has approved a balanced budget for 2020 in contrast to the $27K+ deficit budget for 2019. A number of budget lines were decreased for 2020 and a few were increased based on 2019 actuals. Obviously the recent staffing changes resulted in the largest decreases in expenses. The current staff members and the office volunteers and I have been meeting regularly to ensure that we have good matches between skills and interests and the tasks we need to accomplish.

In reviewing and focusing on the assets and resources of Faith Church, both financial and people, we are ensuring that the administrative and spiritual needs of the whole congregation are addressed. The generosity of each person is greatly appreciated as we discern our roles in the life of the community – our giving of time, and talents and finances.

Please plan on attending the Annual Meeting on January 26, 2020 to get the numbers!
Rise Against Hunger January 18th 10 a.m. to Noon
The Mission Team is hosting another Rise Against Hunger event. Faith church is joining forces with members from the Folsom Mosque, Foothills United Methodist, and the Cameron Park Latter Day Saints to pack at least 15,000 meals. All ages are welcome to join in this fun and effective outreach. Donations are an important part of this outreach, covering the cost of meals and packing supplies.

Youth Sunday and Super Bowl Food Drive February 2nd
During the holidays, local food distribution sites such as the SHARE food closet have abundant supplies. But, donations slow dramatically in the early months of the year. In response to the need, the youth at Faith church hold a giant food drive on Super Bowl Sunday to benefit the El Dorado County Food Bank. The Food Bank provides supplies for local programs such as SHARE in Placerville.

Mark your calendar for February 2nd and plan to bring food donations to keep the shelves stocked for those who are hungry in our community.

On this same day, Youth Sunday, our teens take the lead on Sunday Ministries, serving in every role possible: choir, usher, LEM, and even giving the sermon!
Transition Survey
Dear Community Members,

A lot has been happening this fall! Besides the completion of the newly redesigned website, the Profile Committee gathered the information from both the online surveys and small group discussions to create the Parish Profile. The Vestry approved the profile at the December meeting. The profile has been sent to the Office of the Bishop for final review. We are currently right on track for publishing our profile for rector candidates to review in January. The profile will be available for potential applicants to see on our website sometime in January 2020.

The Profile Committee developed a Parish Profile that represents who we are at Faith Church today. The entire Vestry and I are indebted to them for their energy, focus and tireless commitment to complete the huge task given to them. I would like to personally thank each team member for their dedication and service:

           McGregor Scott, Chair
           Linda Pietraczyk
           Lynsey Slojkowski
           Eva Tak
           Angie Hansen
           Dan Seldon
           Fred Campbell-Craven
           Jim Wahlstrom

A big thank you also to Christian Seldon, Linda Pietraczyk and Frank Ober for their work on the newly redesigned Faith website. It looks great!

Mission Team Update
By Sara Eldridge

Thank you, Faith Family!  Because of your amazing generosity, we were able to raise $16,800 for the Honduran Scholarship Fund! And because of Padre Francisco’s stewardship and God’s capacity to increase human offerings in miraculous ways, the money we have raised will be enough to help 70 students to enroll in the upcoming school year, which begins January 2020. Please keep Padre and all of the students and their families in your prayers throughout the coming year. They pray for all of us, and they work extremely hard to be successful in spite of the daily hardships they face. It is a blessing and a privilege to be part of their lives and education. Let us all rejoice together in God’s goodness!
Staffing Update
By Pastor Liz Armstrong

A few hours per week have been added to the current work hours for Monica Ness in order to expand her position to include Communications. Monica will be producing the eNewsletter, keeping the website and website calendar current, and posting events and information on the Faith Church Facebook and Instagram pages. Monica’s experience with communications and marketing are a wonderful asset for Faith Church and so critical in our information driven culture. Her job description is expanded and her job title is now Director of Christian Formation and Communications.
