We are still raising up the ministries of World Hunger and the Water Well program. Please consider supporting one or both of the efforts. We are helping our Synod raise $500,000 for this year's world hunger project and we are well on our way to collecting enough to dig Well No. 8 in Africa. Your support is appreciated.

Treehouse, the Lutheran Campus Ministry at Texas A&M and Blinn College
Coming to Christ Lutheran - Sunday, January 29 9:15 am
Howdy Lutherans! Thank you for welcoming our Treehouse students to your pulpit on January 29.  Students are excited to be there (and nervous, of course!), and eager to share how the Good News has been alive and kicking through Lutheran Campus Ministry.  It's been a phenomenal year.

Here's a little background: This will be Treehouse's fourth Campus Ministry Sunday, and we will be sending 32 students to 17 churches this year! As we Aggies say, Whoop! Last year, through very generous congregational offerings, just over $10,000 was raised to support Lutheran Campus Ministry at Texas A&M and Blinn College. We're tremendously grateful. Nearly our entire budget is fundraised, and each gift literally makes ministry happen. Thank you for your generosity.

So what are we up to this year? Well, here's a few things you might hear more about:

It's tight!   Treehouse meets at the Student Center behind Peace Lutheran in College Station. This year, so many students have joined the ministry that we are almost shoulder-to-shoulder many nights, and we've often been            scrambling for extra chairs and space. It's a wonderful problem to have! Students are deeply hungry for a warm,  gracious, loving faith community on campus where questions are welcomed and community is formed - and that's exactly the need that Treehouse meets.

New Staff! As the ministry has grown, we've realized a need for more staff. So we were pleased to welcome Deaconness Jennifer Clark Tinker to the Treehouse staff this year, whose work is dedicated to continuing to build          a faith presence at Blinn College in Brenham. She has been doing a fantastic job! We also have five student interns this year, who work at both Blinn campuses (Brenham and Bryan), as well as Texas A&M.

Faith Formation! When students begin in Treehouse, we let them know what we are up to: helping them grow beyond the simple faith of childhood to the questioning faith of adolescence to a deeply mature, trusting, nuanced, prayerful faith that can follow Jesus into the world. Our students will tell you that this is a challenging, hard, life-changing process. It most certainly is! It is also one that students are hungry for and what keeps them engaged beyond college. It's a powerful thing to witness.

There's so much more we want to tell you about the phenomenal ways that the Spirit is moving at Texas A&M and Blinn College! So please join us for worship on January 29.

With gratitude for your partnership in ministry,
Pastor Mindy Roll, Treehouse

DAY SCHOOL NEWS
day schoo letterhead

Happy New Year!  We had a tremendous 2016, with a full roster of children and the accomplishment of our Texas Rising Star certification.  We are excited to see what God has in store for us this year, and how we can continue to Love God, Love People and Serve the World.
We are already preparing for our upcoming                       re-accreditation through the Evangelical Lutheran            Education Association, and will complete that process with a several-day validation team visit in May.  In the months to come we will be busy updating our original professional portfolios and other documents to reflect growth and changes that have occurred over the last seven years since our initial accreditation.  We will take a hard look at our Day School mission statement and review our policies, governance, resources, physical facilities and curriculum.
We look forward to all that Spring brings us like, Book Fair, Easter activities and before we know it, Pre-K graduation!  We thank you if you are already involved in the life of the Day School, and if not, we hope that this new year will be the start of a new friendship!  Come see us sometime!

Sincerely,
Ginny Gaskamp
