The 1880s vintage cabin discovered in November along north State Street was moved to its temporary home at the city's water reclamation plant property on December 28.
With the help of a professional house moving company, the primitive structure lumbered along State Street after crews took time to winterize the cabin and prepare it for the less than 5-mile journey to the plant.
The structure will remain at the treatment plant for about two years and then it will be moved to its new home at Heritage Park upon completion of the park and the 10-million-gallon water tank associated with the property. The city will take efforts to preserve the building using architects and craftsman familiar with these vintage structures.
