Our first container of 2019 is headed to the city of Damaturu in Yobe State, Nigeria. Located in the northeast of the country, residents of Damaturu have little access to proper medical care.
To make this container a reality, we worked with the Yobe State Commissioner of Health. A large focus of the container was provide surgical equipment and giving local doctors the tools they need to perform routine surgery on patients. As with so many of the areas we support around the world, doctors on the ground have the training necessary to save lives - they just don't have the supplies and equipment to do so.
The supplies will be distributed to multiple hospitals across the area and we are working closely with the Commissioner of Health to track the impact of the supplies on regional healthcare. By understanding the best ways to address healthcare inequality, we can improve the way we deliver Health and Hope, not just in Nigeria, but across the world.
