Sustainable Development Goals
, along with the 169 targets, focus on a wide variety of issues from climate change to partnerships, are committed to ending poverty. “Eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development,” states the agenda’s preamble.
Developing Our World aligned to these goals because, poverty has several nuances. From a Biblical stand point, every single human being suffer of poverty. It could be a "poverty of Spiritual Intimacy," "poverty of being," "poverty of community," and "poverty of stewardship." In reality, all human beings are poor. For more information about this, read "When Helping Hurts" from Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert.
In light of this, Developing Our World, a non-profit organization is working tirelessly to contribute to the achievement of these goals in Guatemala and around the world. Through the approach of holistic community development, we provide a range of programs and projects that try to solve these problems. These work as a platform where individuals, leaders, schools, churches and even the government can come together and play different roles in various capacities to improve the lives of people, in order to eradicate poverty. The programs range from leadership training to education to healthcare, and more. We believe in initiating change from the bottom-most level all the way to the top; therefore it applies a holistic community development approach.
