December In Review

A meeting with a Prince

Mayor Jose "Pepe" Diaz was honored to meet with Prince Haru Kuntawana earlier this month. Kuntawana is recognized in Brazil by many of his indigenous people as one of the most influential leaders of his time. The meeting highlighted the immense value of cultural exchange, learning from indigenous wisdom, and embracing a global plan that unites us all. It is important to respect nature, protect resources, and ensure a better future for Florida and the Amazon.

"La Purísima"

December 7th marks "La Purísima," a cherished Nicaraguan tradition honoring the Conception of the Virgin Mary in the Catholic religion. It is celebrated with beautifully adorned altars in homes, churches, and public spaces, where devotees sing hymns, offer gifts, and share in prayers. In Sweetwater, our Nicaraguan community celebrates with vibrant decorations, music, and a strong sense of unity.
