Caring and Serving Together CAST

January 2023 Newsletter

Recently, I read an article that summarized the results of an 85-year study conducted by researchers at Harvard. The goal of the study was to determine the secret to happiness. In a new book, The Good Life: Lessons from the World's Longest Scientific Study of Happiness the results and recommendations are being shared in depth. For now, let me share that they have determined there is one factor above all else: good relationships. Waldinger, Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard and Director of the Harvard Study of Adult Develpment said:

So if you were to make one decision to best ensure your own health and happiness, it should be to cultivate warm relationships.

I love that CAST has been practicing this since its begininng! At our core, we are about relationship: with each other and with those we serve.

In other news, I'm excited to be introducing the new CAST logo. Please take a minute to read the explanation below. Great logos not only make an impression, but they create a tool for you to prompt conversations and share information. I encourage you to let the new logo do both...prompt conversations and share information about the important work of CAST.

Finally, please consider joining us for a book study and/or for BINGO. These are great opportunities to connect for friendship and fun! Details below...will look forward to seeing you there!

With gratitude,

Sonja White

Executive Director

New Logo -- Same Mission

The CAST logo represents the mission in several ways.  The interwoven C can be seen as a net.  As those who serve as part of CAST also work to be fishers of men, we CAST a net in our local community.  If one looks closely, the C is also an infinity sign.  The quiet and humble work of those in CAST will have infinite impact, beyond anything we can hope or imagine.

Finally, the gradient colors represent a willingness to cross boundaries as we pursue opportunities to demonstrate servant leadership.

Why BINGO?

The Children's Toy Fund is a local 501(c)3 Nonprofit that aims to bring fun to kids facing difficult situations. From stocking local hospitals full of toys to making sure that foster kids receive a hand picked birthday gift just for them CTF finds a way to bring light and laughter to even the scariest of situations. Every time someone plays BINGO at The Children's Toy Fund's state licensed game they are directly supporting everything that CTF does. This is why CAST is ecstatic to be able to plan a fun night out with friends and support one of our amazing partners.
