We are excited to announce the opening of Fun Time Academy Poinciana for new students on Monday, February 6.
This expansion of early education for low-income families is in collaboration with Collier County Public Schools, using three available classrooms at Poinciana Elementary to accommodate an additional 62 children. We are appreciative of Collier County Public Schools for supporting this growth. Expansion at other Collier County schools may be a future possibility. A press release on our expansion has been issued via the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce.

Further, we are thrilled to announce a ribbon-cutting event at Fun Time Poinciana on Thursday, February 23 at 5pm. Local community members, school system employees, government and other supporters will be invited to attend.

We thank Fun Time's Board and Strategy Committee for their leadership in developing and initiating this expansion. At our Broadway event on Thursday, February 16, we will raise a toast to this exciting growth.

Thank all of you for your continued support of the highest quality education in Collier County!

Welcome Our Newest Staff Member
Sandy Ecker, our newest staff member, is incredibly excited to be our kitchen manager! Originally from Michigan, she moved to Florida in 2015 from upstate New York. Her previous experiences includes running a supper club for the elderly, working in restaurants and serving as a cook at golf courses. Sandy has her Safe Serve certificate. Formerly, she was in the insurance industry as a claims case manager for Workers Compensation. She likes to spend time with her husband and enjoys boating and swimming.
Golisano Children's Museum of Naples
Our VPK students enjoyed their visit from Cindi from the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. She taught our children about engineering using scientific inquiry. They used objects such as Play-Doh, spaghetti, sticks, cereal and various other materials to construct houses and learn about motion and stability. Children are natural investigators and their levels of understanding deepen over time with varied experiences.
This month we have been learning about physical science through read-alouds and hands-on activities. Children explored and investigated objects that require positioning and movement through play such as gears, marbles and screws in a toy workbench. They also investigated how to change the speed in which an object will move, such as pedaling or rolling a ball.

Children expressed what they learned about physical science using creative arts. They practiced their coordination and observation skills and produced art using only marbles, paint and a tray. The objective was for them to move a marble to produce artwork by using tilting motions. The final result was a work of art!
Donna has been a volunteer at Fun Time Academy for over 5 years. She is originally from Buffalo New York, and has lived in Naples for 12 years. This year she works with three children one time a week for an hour and a half using the ELLM (Early Literacy and Learning Model) program. Donna enjoys reading books with the children and reinforcing literacy, science and math concepts that are taught in the classroom. According to Donna, "The kids are so sweet and make me feel special. I enjoy spending time with them."
