Sparrow House Celebrates One Year Anniversary!

As we head into 2025, we celebrate our one-year anniversary for Sparrow House Outreach! We are grateful for the communities, partnerships, volunteers, supporters, and donors who went alongside us the entire way, creating positive change in so many lives and making an incredible impact on the homeless population in Newark.

Together during the past year, we

• served over 26,000 meals
• provided over 11,000 other food items
• provided over 7,000 non-food items
• were assisted by over 100 volunteers

We are excited to make an even bigger impact over the next year and look forward to changning lives for the better with you!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Meet Steve and Diana

Steve and Diana Riddle have supported Sparrow House since the beginning. Steve is the Sparrow House Board President, and they are seen serving in Newark almost every Saturday. Steve and Diana are two of our Food Warriors who pick up food donations every week. They have cooked meals, gathered clothing, provided nonperishable food, and have donated to those we serve in multiple capacities.

Their enthusiasm for putting others first is contagious, and they are true leaders of the Sparrow House team. Thank you, Diana and Steve, for your dedication, hard work, and joyfulness!

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Borough of Florham Park

A very big thank-you to the Borough of Florham Park for their food drive donations!

The families we serve were very happy to receive the extra food and just in time for the holidays.

We appreciate your thoughtfulness and look forward to partnering with you again!

I A.M. Hope NJ

A very warm thank-you to I A.M. Hope NJ, Denville, for helping families celebrate the holidays by providing gifts for the little ones we serve.

It was a great surprise for both moms and kids, who were ecstatic to receive wrapped gifts for the holidays!

Thank you for brightening the day for many children!

Blueprint Construction Services

Thank-you to Blueprint Construction Services, Byram for bringing the spirit of the holidays to Newark by hosting a toy drive! It was a fun event and Sparrow House left with a truckload of toys for the families we serve.

Thank you also for the Black River Barn Restaurant, Randolph for hosting the toy drive!

You're Not in Kansas Anymore

A big thank-you to You're Not in Kansas Anymore, Chester for donating coats, gloves, scarves, hats, blankets, and women's clothing.

The items were well received and brought joy to many of the women we serve!

Volunteer Opportunity

We are in need of volunteers to pick up food donations from corporations and schools. The pick-ups are on Wednesdays and Fridays, between 2:00 - 3:00 pm. Volunteers may choose to pick up weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
