The Sagamore Council will be offering FREE CAMP PROMO MEAL PLACEMATS for all units that want to use them for their Blue and Gold Banquets or Courts of Honor as a way to promote Sagamore Council Summer Camp options. The placemats will have CS info on one side and BS info on the other. The CS version image shown is not the exact placemat but it gives you an idea of what you will see. The information will all be summer camp driven unlike the additional programs you see shown here such as pinewood derby and haunted weekend.  We will have a program guide available in May with all of the other programs in it for planning purposes.

Below is a link that takes you to a 6 question survey to gather your order information.
Please allow 2 weeks time if at all possible to process your order and have them available for you for your event.

Unit Commissioner Visits

Some of you are not use to having a unit commissioner and those times are over! As the 2018 year flipped our District Committee staff has turned a new chapter and have begun to strengthen our committee by adding additional commissioners. It's ALL of our missions to deliver a quality Scouting program and change the lives of those we serve.
What better way to strengthen all of our programs then by sharing resources and assist each other so we all can monopolize on each others strengths and weaknesses to make our program and district GREAT! As those commissioners begin contact unit to organize visits, please be receptive. They are there to help you and your unit be successful not spy on your unit functions. If you have questions, use that person as a resource. They are just an extension of me and our district!

Let's make 2018 amazing by working together and ensuring all of your unit's programs are strong, lead by quality trained leaders, delivering the mission by ensuring all the young people we serve have the moral and ethical ability to make decisions over their lifetime, living by the Scout Oath and Law.

We also offer CLIMBING MERIT BADGE! All of our instructors are BSA registered and certified to provide the best indoor climbing merit badge experience. Scouts learn how to belay, rappel over 30 feet, and will be tested on essential climbing knots and etiquette.

Roundtable

We have been providing Roundtable with a training component, so please consider sending a representative from your unit. It's a great way to establish a relationship with other leaders that could be a resource to you. It also gives your unit access to all upcoming activity flyers and district information straight from your District staff. Let's all achieve great success in 2018 because we've shared resources, talents, strengths/weakness, as well as camaraderie and friendship!

February we will have a Philmont break out for Troops and Blue and Gold for Packs
March we will have Pinewood Derby for Pack and Summer Camp/Patrol Method for Troops
April will be OA for Troops and Crossover/Awards Ceremony for Cub Scouts

Service

While various activities and youth groups teach basic skills and promote teamwork, Scouting goes beyond that and encourages youth to achieve a deeper appreciation for service to others in their community.

Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as individuals. It is communicated to them that those in the Scouting family care about what happens to them, regardless of whether a game is won or lost.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Scouting promotes activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made, peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made

Let's log those service hours and really show our community how much Scouting supports community efforts! Not to mention, those communities are supporting US - so let's give back!

Our Civic Service Chair, Linda Dayberry and husband John, created a traveling district trophy. Every month the districts service hours will be reported and the trophy will be awarded to the unit that has completed the most service hours. They will hold the trophy until the next month, where they will relinquish to the new month's winner. Please put some thoughts into how your unit can embellish the award prior to turning over to the next unit. Let's make this a competition to drive our units service impact in 2018.

Congratulations to Troop 203 out of Logansport for having the most service hours in the month of December and the total numbers of hours for the entire year, 2017! Great job, Dayberry's for your unit's service efforts and community engagement!
