Ability has a lot in store for this year. As our national program leads finalize their plans, we have our scholarship window about to open, and our next election cycle just around the corner. We’ve already held our first Grief & Trauma, and Alzheimer’s Support call of the year. If you have been hesitating to join any of our support calls, I encourage you to take that leap forward. All our support calls are broad in topic and comforting. We allow you to share your story in your own time and keep what you choose to share as private as possible.

One small thing you can do this year to create an accessible habit in your everyday work, for the benefit of people with disabilities, is to caption your recorded MS Teams calls that you host.

#1 As with any public speaking event, speaking slowly and articulating your speech will provide the best AI generated captioning experience.

#2 Most employees have the option to turn on Closed Captioning for their own live experience in an MS Teams meeting. (Figure 1)

#3 After your recorded MS Teams meeting is added to your MS Stream, you can caption or prepare a transcript through Video settings > Transcript and captions (Figure 2)

Like many of you, 2022 was a rough year. Let’s rise again, continue to help each other, and work together to make this a more gentle year for us all.
