Academics, Real-world Technology Provide Pathways to Higher Learning
Cordova High School's Patient Care course prepares students for careers in health care by combining academics with the latest medical technology. The two-year curriculum uses 3D-imaging and real-world simulators to provide a hands-on experience within the classroom. The course is part of the school's Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. New Drumline Program Available at Mills Middle School
With support from the city’s Community Enhancement & Investment Fund, Mills Middle School now has its first drumline program. Students in the program can learn how to play various drum instruments, such as the bass, tenor and snare drums. They will perform at school rallies, athletic games, local community events, parades and more. Learn more

Cordova High Students Joined 2022 El Dorado Forestry Challenge
Four students from Cordova High School recently participated in the El Dorado Forestry Challenge in Grizzly Flats. The contest brought together 116 students from 16 Northern California schools, and participants developed plans for new forests in areas impacted by the Caldor Fire. The competition also included a field test to assess technical forest knowledge and data-collecting skills. Learn more

Grant Applications Accepted Starting in February
The City of Rancho Cordova will soon be accepting grant applications for Community Enhancement & Investment Fund projects. The city will review and consider awarding grants to individuals, organizations, businesses and community partners who are interested in enhancing the Rancho Cordova community through arts, culture, history, entertainment, sports, education and other projects. Robotics Program Open for Registration
The Suvidha International Foundation RanchoBot Challenge returns in May 2023, and Rancho Cordova students in 4th through 8th grades are encouraged to register. The robotics training and challenge is free, with up to 20 teams of five to eight students competing in Sumo Bot, Line Follower and Advanced Robotics. Register here

Suvidha International Foundation is offering speech and debate training programs for Rancho Cordova students in 4th through 8th grades starting this month. Community Open House for Roundabout Feasibility Study
Join the City of Rancho Cordova on Wednesday, January 18 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM for a Community Open House for the Roundabout Feasibility Study. The city received a grant to study the feasibility of constructing roundabouts at new and existing intersections. The study will evaluate and prioritize potential locations, create an implementation plan including conceptual designs, and develop guidelines for additional roundabout locations. Learn more

The City of Rancho Cordova is developing a Climate Action Plan (CAP) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated in our city. The CAP will set goals to reduce emissions and outline policies and actions to achieve these goals. Rancho Cordova Police Officer and PAL Director Jose De La Cruz Retires
Rancho Cordova Police Department Officer and Rancho Cordova Police Activities League (PAL) Executive Director Jose De La Cruz retired after 22 years of service to the community. He has served the City of Rancho Cordova as a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer and Problem Oriented Policing Officer, before serving as Executive Director of PAL. Learn more

Rancho Cordova Schools Receive Free Art Supply Kits
Over $7,000 in art supplies was recently distributed to 35 teachers from 14 different Rancho Cordova schools. The art supply kits included paint, glue, canvasses, clay, tools and more. The kits were donated by Rancho Cordova Arts, a nonprofit organization that raised funds to purchase the supplies at its recent Micro Masterpiece art exhibit and sale. Learn more
