Musical America Top Professionals of the Year

We are proud to let you know that our very own Founder and Artistic Director, Aloysia Friedmann, has been named one of Musical America’s 30 Top Professionals of the Year! Here is what Musical America Worldwide, an organization which, for over 100 years, has been “the voice of the performing arts community” says of the recipients:

“We asked the worldwide Musical America audience: Who are the heroes of the performing arts industry?

And you let us know. They make the industry tick, brainstorm the new ideas, get the artists on stage, help build the audiences and train the artists of tomorrow.

What is striking about these individuals is their passion, creativity and dedication to making the arts thrive.”

The profiles of all the honorees can be found here:

Aloysia has been mainly recognized for the wonderful work she has done here on Orcas – congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Aloysia!

Yes! Really! From January 27 th -30 th , Orcas and Shaw Islands shall be graced with two fabulous musicians, Aloysia and Jackie, working with the school strings, band, and music appreciation classes, giving individual masterclasses and ensemble coachings, and performing community concerts. A Golden Evening

What a magical night it was on December 13 th ! Rosario Resort was decorated in its Christmas best, setting the scene for a night of incomparable music and camaraderie! Desmond Hoebig, Artem Kuznetsov, and Jon Kimura Parker gave the nattily-attired guests the very finest of piano and cello music from Russia with a dollop of German Strauss (and, at the end, a little party-crashing by the resident violist and sawyer for the traditional O Holy Night ). Then it was down to the glittering Orcas Room for a sumptuous buffet by Chef Raymond Southern and his crew. Beginning to end, what an evening! Thanks to Concert Sponsors The Anders Foundation (in honor of Valerie Anders); Artist Sponsors Carol Marcin and Tom Burg, Carl de Boor, and Ginny Hawker and Theron Soderlund; our hosts Jan and Jerry Barto and all the staff at Rosario Resort, and to all of you who joined us. For those who weren’t able to attend, we shall look forward to seeing you there next year!
We look forward to sharing more OICMF news and events with you - keep your eyes peeled for next month's Scherzo !
All the best,
