January 28, 2019 In this edition:  ENVRIplus project extended Enabling FAIR Data Initiative TERN Anniversary OGC Call Calendar of Events

ENVRIplus project will be extended until July 31, 2019! The European Commission has accepted our request to extend the project duration by 3 months. The main reasons for the extension are for example 1) Organization of the methane cruise on the Black Sea, 2) Ongoing work on the Sustainability of ENVRIplus project and ENVRI Strategy 3) Organization of the ENVRIplus DIssemination event in Brussels 4) Connection to ENVRI-FAIR project, etc. An updated version of the ENVRIplus Description of work is available  here .

Enabling FAIR Data Initiative Shelley Stall An international coalition of scholarly publishers, scientific repositories, infrastructure, and government and private funders have come together inan common effort with the project name of Enabling FAIR Data. Their goal being to make data open and FAIR in the Earth, space and environmental sciences, where FAIR stands for Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable. Read more here .

TERN's 10th Anniversary! The Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN) observes, records and measures critical terrestrial ecosystem parameters and conditions for Australia over time from continental scale to field sites at hundreds of representative locations. This information is standardised, integrated and transformed into model-ready data, enabling researchers to discern and interpret changes in land ecosystems. This year marks TERN’s tenth anniversary and we are celebrating! TERN's plan is to meet with you more often; deliver more data products and tools; provide the training courses you ask for; and welcome more researchers to their field sites. Join the director, Dr Beryl Morris, as she profiles some of the exciting TERN projects a nd events of 2019 here in the director's update.

OGC Calls for Speakers for its Marine Summit in Singapore

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is an international consortium of more than 525 companies, government agencies, research organizations, and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available geospatial standards. The OGC is calling for speakers for the 1-day OGC Marine Summit, which will be held in Singapore at the National University of Singapore on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, as part of the  OGC Technical Committee meeting  taking place that week. This event is being co-organised by the  OGC Marine Domain Working Group  in partnership with the  Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore , and is expected to draw participants from the OGC community, government agencies, industry stakeholders, and learning institutions. The OGC Marine Summit is open to all interested organisations and speakers - OGC Membership is not a requirement. The Summit will be a combination of presentations and expert panels focussing on the above themes. You can learn more about the  OGC Marine DWG on their web page .
