In 2026, the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance welcomes a milestone year of remembrance, reflection, and shared purpose. 2026 holds deep significance, marking the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, and America’s 250th Anniversary, a powerful convergence of remembrance, national history, and enduring American resilience.

The 1,500-mile 9/11 National Memorial Trail stands as a living memorial that connects communities, memorials, and stories of heroes. More than a route, the Trail represents a shared commitment to remembrance, discovery, and connection, reflecting both the tragedy that reshaped our country and the strength, unity, and resilience that followed.

As 2026 unfolds, the Alliance remains committed to preserving the meaning of the Trail and supporting the communities, partners, and supporters who sustain its mission. Together, we honor the past, reflect in the present, and carry forward a legacy of remembrance and American resilience that will endure for generations.

Ride in Remembrance in 2026! Join the 25th Anniversary Cycling Challenge

Registration is officially open for the 9/11 Trail 25th Anniversary Cycling Challenge, a year-long series of rides taking place throughout 2026 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

With more than 20 organized rides planned along or near the 1,500-mile 9/11 National Memorial Trail, the Challenge offers cyclists of all experience levels the opportunity to participate in a structured national program that combines physical challenge, commemoration, and community engagement. Each event contributes to a broader year-long observance, creating a coordinated series of rides that honor the anniversary through participation, presence, and public visibility across Trail communities.

The Cycling Challenge is designed to welcome individuals, clubs, organizations, and community groups into a shared year of participation—making 2026 a year not only of remembrance, but of active involvement and visible tribute across the Trail network.

Meet the Alliance

The September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance continues its outreach efforts through community and cycling events across the region, including appearances at the 29th Annual STOP, SWAP AND SAVE on February 15, 2026 in Westminster, Maryland, and the 2026 Philly Bike Expo on March 14–15 at the PA Convention Center in Philadelphia. At both events, the Alliance will engage with attendees, share information and about the 1,500-mile 9/11 National Memorial Trail, and promote its mission of remembrance, discovery, and connection.
