There's Still Time to Be a Reading Mentor
Did you make a resolution to do more good in the community? We can help you with thatbecome a Lead to Read KC Reading Mentor. Our volunteers have so much fun each week. We currently have many students and classrooms on our waiting list and new classrooms are opened only once we have a volunteer for every student - so we need you now!

Recruit a colleague, friend or family member to join the fun!
Thank you for supporting our community!
We're assembling an all-star team for this year's Get Schooled: Score for Literacy and we want to add you to the lineup! Your personal or corporate support of the April 25 event at the new CPKC Stadium will help us empower our highest-need students to reach their goals. All sponsors receive fabulous benefits and recognition before, during and after the event. It's time to pitch in!
Imagine all the stories shared this past semester when our Reading Mentors dedicated 5,684 hours to their students. They donated a staggering $180,767 worth of their time and passion for literacy (based on the national volunteer hourly rate). Thank you mentors for all that you do! That's just one focus of Lead to Read KC's platform. Want to be a part of it?
News from Terri Barnes, Interim Executive Director
I absolutely love the anticipation of the New Year and all of the possibilities it presents. As a new member of the Lead to Read KC family, I am excited to see that reading makes the list of people's resolutions.

As we approach the new year and this time of transition, we are asking ourselves as an organization, how can we improve, how can we be more effective, how do we ensure that we are consistently centering families and providing individualized support to students?
