January Updates
Dear Wonderful Families,

We are just about midway through our school year and the pace is not slowing down. We accomplish so much in our “world”...and have endless activities occurring at every level. Our intramural ski/skate/circuit training elective for our Middle Schoolers is shaping up to be an incredible success with about 90 students signed up for skiing alone. We offer so many opportunities to our students!!! We hosted the Leadership Greater Nashua 2020 class for their education day. We are so proud they chose us as the finest example of an alternative education to our future leaders. Also, we were selected by a local group as having the Best Kindergarten in the area and our students just won both Holiday Basketball tournaments!! It is such a great time to be a NorthStar!!

Our History Bee took place this week and our group picture week started out on a very busy note as we have a large group of graduating Eighth Graders and Kindergarteners! Our K-Grade 4 Theater groups are working hard on their productions which will take place on January 17th on the big stage in the Gym. More information will be sent home soon!

Don’t forget our Admission Open House this Saturday the 11th at 10:00am. If you have friends or family who would like to know the added value of a World Academy education, please send them to us!! Also, if you would like additional information about future programming for your current WA student, this is the perfect place to get it!

Have a great weekend,
Kathy and Lisa for all of us
President and Head of School
Periodically we send out surveys to find out how you think we are doing. Although we hear from many of you consistently, we want to hear from you all, if possible. Thank you for taking a few minutes to help us be the best we can be for your students. Your feedback is an important component of our self-assessment for growth and quality.
Thank you to donor,
Megan Ordway , who made a donation in honor of current student, Maddy !
Join us by giving  40 for World Academy’s 40th Anniversary! This year,  the World Academy Alumni Association is celebrating the 40th year anniversary of the founding of World Academy by participating in a donation drive! Since 1980, the school has educated and nurtured over 20,000 students, and we would like to honor that accomplishment by paying tribute to the students, teachers, alumni and special memories from our “World!”

We are aiming to celebrate this incredible 40-year legacy by attaining 40 gifts in honor of the 40 years of excellence.  Please consider donating a gift of any amount to the WA Alumni Association . All gifts designated to the  “40 for 40” will go directly to the WA Alumni Association’s Scholarship Fund to support a quality World Academy education to even more deserving students. Please consider this tax-deductible donation in honor of your wise investment in your child’s education as it will allow us to offer more quality, deserving students a chance to have a positive impact on your child’s “World!”.

Gifts can be donations of any denomination given in honor of a special current student, alumni, special teacher and/or special memory. If your company will match your donation, you will be doubling the good your gift will bring! We are grateful to announce that some of the companies that have shared our ‘World’ over the years have also offered to match individual donations as well. Please see the different levels of donations below and let us know how we can support your matching funds.

All  “40 for 40”  donors and honorees, unless designation of anonymous is preferred, will receive personal recognition in our special edition of  Coordinates that will highlight this banner year at World Academy. We thank you so much for the opportunity to celebrate our World Academy’s 40th Anniversary in this impactful way and to share our pride in the joy of what happens in our “World” every day!

Warmly,
The World Academy Alumni Association
in cooperation with the Administrative Leadership Team of World Academy

Join us for the K-8 Admissions Open House!
Saturday, January 11th from 10-11 AM
We will be holding a  K-8 Admissions Open House on Saturday, January 11th from 10-11 AM for current and prospective families who are interested in learning more about the next engaging level for your children at World Academy!

Did you know... that our  Elementary-aged students take  two World Languages beginning in Kindergarten, when most schools don't begin until Grade 8 or that a  Robotics curriculum begins in Kindergarten and continues through Grade 8? The  World Academy "Cradle to Careers" Roadmap intentionally builds students into thinkers, doers, dreamers, and do-gooders by building competencies in 21st century and interpersonal skills that most schools don't value as part of their curriculum. We pride ourselves on being different/special, and we hope that you will join us for this event to see what your child will continue to benefit from next year!
Re-Registration For The 2020-2021 School Year is Happening Soon!!!!
It's that time of year again! Our 2020-2021 World Academy Programs re-registration will be taking place ONLINE for all programs from Infant through Grade 8, making it easier for families to complete.

Re-registration information for current families will go out, digitally, via email on January 17th and will need to be completed ONLINE by January 31st.  We want ALL TO ENROLL DIGITALLY, unless this presents a problems for you. This is what to expect:
On January 17th, one primary adult family member will receive an email with a link to re-registration. Once that person clicks on the link and begins the re-registration process, all immediate primary adult members will have access in their RenWeb portals. All families of children from Infant through Grade 8 need to have a RenWeb account to complete Re-registration. Details on how to create your RenWeb account are below:

Here’s how to access our easy-to-use RenWeb ParentsWeb:
  • Make sure that the school has your email address in RenWeb
  • In your web browser, go to www.renweb.com and click “Logins”
  • Type the school’s District Code: wa-nh
  • Click “Create New ParentsWeb Account”.
  • Type your email address and click “Create Account”. An email will be sent which includes a link to create your ParentsWeb login. The link is active for 6 hours.
  • Select the “Click to Create your ParentsWeb Login” link.
  • A web browser displays your Name and RenWeb Person ID.
  • Type a User Name, Password, and Confirm the password.
  • Click “Save User Name and/or Password”. A message displays at the top of the browser, “Username/Password successfully updated.” You may now log in to ParentsWeb using your new Username and Password.

The RenWeb/FACTS app is available via the Apple App Store or Google Play for download.

We will be readily available to support anyone needing assistance with the online re-registration process as we know this could be confusing. World Academy will hold spaces for current families until January 31st, after which time we will begin accepting registrations from new families to fill any vacancies in upcoming programs. Most of our programs are full so this is an important consideration. For Current Families, new tuition rates for the 2020-2021 year will go into effect at the start of the new school year (September). Also, for families who have been with us for years, we are continuing our loyalty rates. Remember, if you leave and subsequently return, these rates are lost. We look forward to a long rewarding relationship with your family in the quest for the best well-rounded, quality education possible for your child.

Please contact  [email protected]  with any questions.

NorthStars Still Shining!
Our Girls and Boys teams WON their Holiday Tournaments during the holiday break! ! It’s a great day to be a NorthStar!!! Both teams, under the guidance of Coach Erik Congdon, were proudly the only D3 teams in their respective tourneys in a field of divisions from larger schools.

The NorthStars girls team took the top spot out of ten teams competing in the Wildcat Girls Christmas Tournament, beating the undefeated D2 Nashua Catholic team 35-31 in the finals after besting the D2 Hollis and undefeated Division 1 Bedford teams.

For the third year in a row , the NorthStar boys remained undefeated in the Titans Holiday Tournament. On the road to the finals, World Academy topped D2 Amherst, D2 Pennichuck, D2 Milford, D1 Merrimack, and defeated D1 Bedford in the Championship by a score of 68-63. Way to go!! We are so proud of our students and thank you, coach C. for this wonderful experience for our teams!!

Both teams also won their games against Weare on Thursday! Be sure come cheer us on at home on Monday against Hopkinton! Goooooo, NorthStars!

Vacation Program Sign-Ups
Our  Vacation Program  is a safe and fun option available to any Kindergarten through Grade 8 student (even those who do not regularly attend World Academy). In order for us to properly staff our programs, advanced sign-up is required for the days your child will attend, and there will not be any refunds for unused days. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come/first served basis. Registration will close one week prior to the vacation day or once the spaces are filled.

Seen Around Our 'World'
We love to know what our students and families are up to outside of school! If you have something you would like to share, please don't hesitate to share it with us! Click here to email us your photos with details for us to post! We especially love to hear (and brag!) about student accomplishments outside of school! We love sharing ALL about each of our students!
Please be sure to FREQUENTLY check the Lost and Found that is located adjacent to the Front Desk in the main hallway! We accumulate a lot of very nice missing items!
Check out our Fourth and Eighth Grade French students celebrating the 12th Day of Christmas/Epiphanie/La Fête des Rois with the King Cake/La Galette des Rois. Yum!
The  Middle School Ski/Ride Program for the 2020 Season started this past Tuesday.
Some of the goals of the  Ski/Snowboarding/Skating/Circuit Training Program include:
building self-confidence, increasing physical fitness, taking on new challenges, developing team building skills and peer relationships, developing an athletic skill that can last a lifetime, and fostering independence and accountability.
For those not at Pat's Peak, students worked with a certified personal trainer on their functional fitness at Octagon playground at the YMCA! Students moved through stations of strength and cardiovascular exercises that were appropriate for their age group and used battle ropes and slam balls.
Students also participated in team building challenges in the morning with Miss Bishop. Students were divided into groups to participate in the Leaning Tower of Feetza! Groups had to make a self standing tower of only their shoes. The challenge was to see how tall and sturdy they could make their tower. The tallest and sturdiest tower won the challenge.
Our Spirit Squad is officially ready to go now that they have their bows! They even have their own mini fans!
It’s funny what can be found when a Fifth Grader cleans her locker!
