JANUARY 2023
The JA Effect - JA Alumni Month
JA ALUMNI MONTH

January is JA Alumni Month! Join us as we celebrate those students who have participated in a Junior Achievement program from elementary through high school. This past June, JA and Ipsos conducted a survey of 1,003 Junior Achievement Alumni age 18+ to see the effect Junior Achievement has had on their lives.

According to that survey, 82% agree that they have a strong financial footing and 84% agree that their experience with Junior Achievement helped with their financial literacy.
This is called the JA Effect -- where JA Alumni view their JA experience as an overwhelmingly positive force in the trajectory of both their personal and professional lives.

"Based on these survey results, it shows that Junior Achievement can contribute to building a successful life," said Shannon Italia, JA of North Florida president. "The effect JA has on students is inspiring, and we can confidently say any student that participates in JA will have boundless possibilities with what they choose to do in life."

This would not be possible without your support of Junior Achievement and our mission. If you would like to learn more about how you can continue to invest in the lives of students, contact us to learn how.

As part of our inaugural JA Stock Market Challenge, area high school students will complete JA Take Stock in Your Future. The top teams at each school will be invited to compete against each other at a live competition on March 30, 2023, at TIAA Bank Field.

Sponsorship opportunities start at $500.

Englewood High School students teaching at San Jose Elementary for JA Heroes
PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT:
JA HEROES

68 students from Major Charles Mallard’s Army JROTC class at Englewood High School recently completed the JA HEROES program and spent a day volunteering at San Jose Elementary School. JA HEROES is a leadership and community service program designed to enrich the education of local youth by connecting high school service learners with JA elementary school students. JA HEROES is part of the JA Work and Career Readiness Pathway.

Through the JA HEROES program JA empowers young leaders to volunteer and teach JA programming in elementary school classrooms. The JA HEROES work in teams of 2-3 and spend a school day in a local classroom leading a series of fun and interactive lessons. This model not only provides elementary school students with role models closer to their own age, but also provides meaningful community engagement and cross-cultural learning for high school students.

Junior Achievement of North Florida gratefully acknowledges The Jim Moran Foundation for their transformational grant that enables the delivery of the JA HEROES program that directly impacts students in Duval County and helps us prepare the next generation of employable, productive citizens.
