OPTIONS Program gives back

OPTIONS Program collaborated with Daughters of American Revolution Regent Barb Shaw and Vice Regent Becky Page and son William to assemble and deliver multiple food baskets for Thanksgiving to local families. 
OPTIONS Program coaches Denise McCarthy and Meghan Hendrickson collaborated with Knights of Columbus to deliver a dozen food baskets to randomly selected DCIU families for the holidays.
OPTIONS STUDENTS

In December, OPTIONS students assisted wrapping gifts for ADOPT a Family.
Employabilty students from the Morton OPTIONS Program assisted to wrap and package gifts for the ADOPT a Family program sponsored by DCIU.

OPTIONS Apartment Program
Community Living and Learning

This program is based in apartments where students receive hands-on, real-life experience training in the community. Participants develop independent living skills by improving their social skills, problem solving and decision making techniques, and by learning to make use of available community resources. Classroom apartments are located in Media and Newtown Square.

Fire at The Thrift Store on the Ave
Monday morning, December 7 there was a fire in an apartment above the Thrift Store on the Ave in Lansdowne. Consequently, there was substantial water damage to the thrift shop. Therefore, the Thrift Shop will be closed until further notice. The Delaware County Advocacy and Resource Organization and the DCIU OPTIONS Program are hopeful to reopen after restoration is completed.
OPTIONS Program Retirees

Heather Frances, David Key and Debi Perry are retiring from the Delaware County Intermediate Unit.

Heather and David were both Employment Liaison Specialists. Heather coached students and adults for 16 years putting her heart into each client she worked with. David coached both students and adults as well for 22 years with dedication and kindness for each client.

Debi was a Site Trainer for the DCIU OPTIONS Program for 22 years. Debi worked in both the employability program and the apartment program with students. Debi's heart for the students was evident in all that she did.
