Work Happiness Together
Join the Wellness Program Team for an experiential book-based series to enhance your career well-being and build community here at the university. Author of The Work Happiness Method and positive psychology expert, Stella Grizont, will kick us off during session 1. Then, we will discuss one key inner skill covered in Stella's book each week. A copy of the book will be provided for each participant, and there will be weekly reading and other assignments to help you get the most out of this series.
Participants will learn:
- The three psychological traps that sabotage your happiness and success - and how to avoid them
- The power of emotions on your vision, decision making, and how to steer yourself towards greater possibilities
- How to stop comparing yourself to others and focus on what brings you greater energy

Financial Wellness Series
With rising interest rates and dramatic price increases for daily living expenses, it has never been more important to learn how to become more financially savvy. This spring, the Wellness Program will offer 14 Financial Wellness sessions with Karen Braun, CPA, PhD, and former Professor of Accountancy at WSOM, plus Susan Fee, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Financial Therapist.

Connection 101
Research indicates that strong relationships and human connection are foundational to our health, happiness and productivity. Join in this 8-week series, facilitated by Connection Labs, to learn about, explore, and discuss how relationships impact our lives and what we can do to strengthen them. Learn essential skills through a strengths-based approach to boost communication and connection with the people in your professional and personal lives. Learn more about Connection 101.
This series is highly interactive and includes required prep work for each session. It will be a small group experience with limited space, so please sign up only if you are interested in, and willing to, do the necessary work. Register by January 10.

Plant Powered Challenge
If you're looking to boost your energy, enhance your sleep, improve your diet, and take control of your health, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Join the Plant Powered Challenge, a free 30-day initiative hosted by Corewell Health's Lifestyle Medicine team, from Jan. 6 to Feb. 5.
In 30 days, challenge participants will learn how a whole foods plant-based (WFPB) diet, which focuses on whole, minimally-processed plant foods and limiting added sugar, can help you maintain a healthy weight, increase energy, and prevent disease. Here's what you can expect from the challenge:

Zumba
Join One to One Fitness instructor Mia Wang for a 10-week moderate intensity Zumba class that combines Latin and international music with slow and fast dance moves. Designed to tone and sculpt the body, it is so fun that you forget you are working out. All levels are welcome, and you can feel free to dance like no one is watching! Sessions will occur in person.

Chair Massages Available Jan. 14
A chair massage can help relax and loosen sore muscles, as well as reduce stress, tension, and anxiety. You can experience all these benefits and more by treating yourself to a chair massage to kick off Spring semester 2025! Appointments are available:

Mindfulness Matters in the Classroom
Are you interested in learning more about using mindfulness in the classroom with students? If yes, please consider attending the Mindfulness Matters in the Classroom sessions to learn more.
The Mindfulness Matters Team will be hosting a series of 4 workshops, led by Suzanne Rusnak, so faculty can learn more about offering brief mindfulness activities with students, based on the original research that the team conducted at CWRU. These experiential sessions will prepare faculty to better support student learning in the classroom.
Suzanne Rusnak will train participants in the Mindfulness Matters model on Jan. 30, Feb. 6, Feb 13, and March 6 from 12-1 pm on each date. Sessions will be recorded and sent to registrants.

Did You Know? Incentives and Recordings
Please note that nearly all of the multi-week series offered through the Wellness Program are eligible for a Wellness Program Incentive. Incentive details will be communicated to all registrants for a given series, but feel free to inquire ahead of time if you are curious.
We also want to remind faculty and staff that we record the majority of our programs offered via Zoom and make the recordings available to everyone who is registered. So, even if you cannot attend the live sessions each week, you can still participate on your own time via the recordings and receive credit toward a Wellness Program Incentive.

Mindful Movement
Mindful Movement is a gentle, accessible approach to yoga that encourages people to tune into what they are feeling as they move and make choices based on their present moment embodied experience. During this 10-week series, instructor Julie Schlemmer will present options for movement, and there is no priority placed on stretching more or holding positions for a longer period of time.

Sugar Fix
Join Lindsay Malone, MS, RD, CSO, LD and CWRU faculty member, for this 8-week series to learn how to remove added sugar from your diet and take control of your overall health.
Hundreds of CWRU employees have participated in this series and experienced great benefits associated with eliminating sugar intake. Participants will kick off their sugar awareness by watching the documentary Fed Up before session 1.

New! Fostering the Mindset and Skills for High-Impact Teamwork
Are you interested in enhancing your team's relationships and productivity? Dr. Tyler Reimschisel, founding associate provost of Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Education and Research at CWRU, will conduct an 8-week series aimed at improving your teamwork knowledge, skills, and mindset.
Topics that will be addressed include valuing the perspectives of different team members, fostering psychological safety, enhancing your emotional intelligence, demonstrating emotional regulation, conducting more productive team meetings, improving your listening capabilities, giving and receiving feedback, and managing conflict productively.

Reflection Point - Spring Semester
There are two new Reflection Point groups coming in January!
