It took me almost a year, but I finally passed the last section of the GED in September 2016 and obtained my high school diploma...After graduating, I thought about my plans for the future and decided that my first priority would be to get a job and get financially stable...I couldn't be more grateful for everything, and neither can I explain in words how great and important the Latin American Youth Center's Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers is to our youth. I am not sure what I will do next, but I do know that whatever it I will do it well and work hard doing it.

Partner Spotlight: Starbucks

A big THANK YOU to the sixty Starbucks employees who supported our MLK Day of Service in Washington, DC and Prince George's County, Maryland. Volunteers made hygiene kits for families in need in DC and supported service workshops in Maryland. You rock!

LAYC's 2017 MLK Day

We were proud to answer Dr. King's question, "What are you doing for others?" by hosting three National Day of Service events in Washington, DC, and Prince George's and Montgomery counties in Maryland. From knitting scarves for the homeless to picking up trash in their communities (and a bit of celebration, of course), our youth and guests spent the day honoring the memory of Dr. King and being catalysts of change in our uncertain world.

Inauguration Day at LAYC is to "Dream About a Better World"

To support our youth and their families through the day, LAYC will open on Inauguration Day. We will offer participants and their families a peaceful space to be with each other and dream about a better world.

Staff Spotlight: Kony Serrano, Youth Case Manager
