Dear friends,

The email that went out this morning was more or less right but had the wrong title.  If is of course January not December!  Also, the earlier email omitted the fact that The Rev. Dr. Richard Leseur will be our guest preacher on January 27.  Richard is known to many of you as the former rector of St. Martins Calgary.
Richard will share his knowledge of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem and the work it carries out in Gaza and elsewhere.  Richard worked for several years at St. George's College Jerusalem and has led dozens of tours of the Holy Land.

Following the service on January 27 we will have a fund-raising soup luncheon to raise money for the Al Ahli Arab Hospital, Gaza.   The Al Ahli Arab Hospital is the only Christian hospital in Gaza and treats all patients equally no matter what their religious or political affiliation. The Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, Suheil Dawani, has launched an urgent appeal for funds due to the collapse of the 120-year-old building's outpatients department.

Please sign-up for the luncheon by adding your name to the sign-up sheet posted in the narthex.  If you would like to donate to the hospital please write a cheque to St. Laurence and put Jerusalem on the memo line.

Again, the schedule for January is to the side.
Highlights in January include the resumption of our Interfaith Bible Study.  We will begin meeting on Wednesday, January 9 and meet every Wednesday through until the end of February.   We hope to get through all or most of Exodus.  Please join us for as many sessions as you are able.  The January sessions are at Beth Tzedec (Glenmore Trail).    Rabbis Osadchey and Glickman and I have a lot of fun leading these sessions.
