Although 2020 called on the Baltimore Museum of Industry to change the way we connect with you, our community, it didn’t change who we are. The mandated closure in March brought an end to a parking lot filled with school buses, galleries filled with school kids, and elegant evening gatherings and in-person programs. But we didn’t miss a beat, immediately innovating new ways to serve the community even with our doors closed.
The pandemic has brought into sharp relief the inequality of economic opportunity in this country, disproportionately harming low-wage workers, and injecting new urgency and meaning into all of the BMI’s activities. Although our programs and exhibitions may look a little different, we’re still the same BMI: The quirky, colorful museum that celebrates the people who built Baltimore into a manufacturing powerhouse, honors those who keep our economy humming today, and inspires the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
May 2021 bring you all good health and happiness, and may it bring us all together again.
