Looking for a good book? The staff of the Beverly Public Library are pleased to share their favorite books of 2019. You’ll find a variety of genres and formats including true crime, memoir, an emotional picture book, a graphic novel, and a wide range of fiction including romance and young adult. New Hot 100 Author List
Do you have a favorite author - or three, or five and would like to have the library place a hold for you automatically when their latest books are published? The library has a new and revised list of popular authors for you. The list includes authors like Kristin Hannah, James Patterson, and Jodi Picoult. Stop by the Reference Desk and ask for the HOT 100 Author List to sign yourself up for your favorite authors!
Symphony by the Sea with Friends
The Friends of the Beverly Public Library is running a special fundraiser this winter. Tickets to the January 26 Symphony by the Sea concert "AMERICAN ICONS: Barber, Copland, Gershwin and the Great American Songbook" at The Cabot will be sold at the Circulation Desk of the main library for $35 each. Sohier Room, Main Library
This month, the main library is hosting an exhibit by cartoonist Ron LeBrasseur. Ron has been a published cartoonist since his comic strip "Void If Removed" (co-created with Peter Phelan) appeared in the Lynn, MA Daily Evening Item back in 1986. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours and when meetings or library programs are not in progress.

Pizza Book Club: Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee

Read a great book, discuss it, and eat free pizza! Pizza Book Club is open to teens in grades 6-12, but is especially good for middle school. (Briscoe students: Ask your ELA or Reading teacher if Pizza Book Club can fulfill your independent reading requirement.) Registration required.

24th Annual Teen Poetry Contest
Calling all teen poets! Starting Monday, January 6, 2020 the library will accept entries from local teens in grades 6 through 12 for our Annual Teen Poetry Contest. The contest will close for entries on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 4 PM. Finalists will be invited to read their poems aloud and winners will receive cash prizes at our Poetry Contest Awards Ceremony & Reception on Wednesday, April 29. Complete information about the contest, including rules, submission form, and other details, will be posted online by the opening date.
Girls Who Code Club
Wednesdays from 3:30-4:45 PM

Interested in building a website or adventure game or learning how to code a robot? Want to work as a team and build a project you care about? Join our Girls Who Code Club. This club is free for teens in grades 6-12. No coding experience necessary. Just bring your commitment to trying something new. If you’d like to bring your own laptop, great! If not, we have ones can borrow for the club. Registration required.

Take Your Child to the Library Day!
Saturday, February 1 bring your child to the library and join us for story times featuring Duck and Goose! At 9:30 AM we will be offering a story time for children ages 0-2, and at 10:30 AM there will be a story time and craft for children ages 3-5. Visitors to the Children’s Room on February 1 can enter a raffle to win a copy of Duck & Gooseby Tad Hill as well as Duck and Goose plush toys.
