WHO DOES GBV AFFECT?
Anybody can be abused, no matter their background, identity, or circumstance. But women, girls, and gender-diverse people are at high risk of gender-based violence. Some are at even higher risks, due to the additional discrimination and barriers they face. This includes women with disabilities, Indigenous women, racialized women, trans and non-binary people, and women who are homeless or underhoused. People facing abuse may have not have access to services that meet their needs (e.g. people in rural or remote areas).

Go to our website and register today for our Radical Wellness event on February 25, 2024. Our wellness event will feature speakers, vendors, and exhibitions related to wellness. We agree with the late and great Audre Lorde, "rest is a form of radical resistance". For social justice advocates and activists to keep up the good fight, we also need to remember to nurture and take care of ourselves. This year, the theme of our conference revolves around forms of self-care. How can we expect to advocate for ourselves or others if we are stressed and exhausted. These past few years have been a lot. We need to regather our strength and focus on collective well-being.
For more information about how to become a speaker or vendor at this event, please email: azgendereqcoalition@gmail.com

Activism - Queer Momentum
This month GECO will continue to fight transphobia and hate by taking part in local activism and counter protests related to trans hate. This is an important part of our work. GECO advocates for equality for all genders. Too often, trans and queer folks and communities feel left out of gender and feminist movements because of a history of exclusion. We are fighting for the fifth wave of feminism, one that is intentionally inclusive of all genders, sexes, and sexualities.
