RVAR Wins Triple Crown for 2021 RPAC Success!

A huge "Thank you" to the 634 REALTORS®, Affiliates and RVAR staff who contributed to the 2021 REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) fundraising campaign! For the seventh year in a row, RVAR has achieved the Triple Crown Award for exceeding all its RPAC goals set by Virginia REALTORS®. RVAR raised $54,022, including contributions from 24 Major Investors (contributions of $1,000 or more.)

RVAR's Family Fun Night on the Ice

Join us for a night of fun and fast paced hockey with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs on Friday, February 4th.  

Tickets will be just $12 for adults and $10 for children (under 12) and includes admission and a meal voucher to be used at the concession area.   

Order as many tickets as you would like - bring your family & friends for a fun, exciting evening at the Berglund Center!! The puck drops against Fayetteville at 7:05PM.

These will be pre-purchase only tickets and must be ordered by 2:00PM Monday, January 31st. Tickets can be picked up at the "Will Call" window on game day.

REALTOR® & Affiliates Night – April 19th

The Affiliates Committee just can’t wait for this year's REALTOR® & Affiliate Night. So, we are moving it! We are excited to return to Hidden Valley Country Club on Tuesday, April 19th from 5pm-8pm. The Committee is proud to announce that this year's theme is ‘GAME NIGHT’. What is your favorite board game? Have a favorite game show? Favorite game of chance? Don't miss the excitement as we enjoy an evening of fun, amazing culinary treats and the opportunity to support our fantastic group of Affiliate members! Tickets are just $15 if purchased by April 12th ($20 between April 13-19) and includes 2 drink tickets. The 2022 RVAR Spring Golf Tournament will be played on Friday, May 13th. This year our Tournament will be held at Botetourt Country Club.

Registration will begin in March!    

We are excited to announce the date for the 2022 RVAR Golf Classic! This year’s event will be held on Friday, September 9 at Roanoke Country Club.

What Will the 2022 Market Look Like?



What’s the market outlook for 2022? What are the market trends to watch? Will the market change soon? If these are questions you are asked by clients, you will not want to miss the next “Economic Update”.

Dr. Lisa Sturtevant, Chief Economist for Virginia REALTORS®, will be our guest presenter for the December “Economic Update”. Dr. Sturtevant will provide a reflective look at the real estate market both statewide and regionally while also giving us some insight on what to expect in 2022. Dr. Sturtevant does an outstanding job and this is a “don’t miss” presentation.

The “Economic Update” will be held on Tuesday, January 25th via Zoom. The presentation will begin at 9:00AM with a brief welcome followed by Dr. Sturtevant’s presentation and include time for questions & answers. We should conclude no later than 10:00AM. (NOTE: This session was originally scheduled for December 14th.)

The “Economic Update” has the goal of providing local, informative presentations regarding topics that affect you and your business. All REALTOR® and Affiliate members are encouraged to attend.

Snapshot of MLS "Listing Check" Reports

During 2021, 406 “Listing Check” messages were sent through FlexMLS to Listing Agents and Listing Brokers. The MLS Monitoring Committee encourages you to review the most common issues reported:

• 146 = Wrong data (wrong area, schools, acreage, style, mapping, attached vs. detached)
• 52 = Photos (missing front photo, LA sign in photo, photos not current) The MLS Rules require a front view photo for all listings – though for Land listings, the front view may be a street view, Lake view or aerial or drone view. Photos may not show a yard sign or any office or agent promotion. The MLS Rules require that photos (including videos and virtual tours) accurately portray the interior and exterior condition of the property during the Active listing period for the property. This rule does not apply to personal property or seasonal changes during the Active listing period.
• 39 = Missing Data (Owner’s legal name, Other See Remarks with no explanation in Remarks)
• 38 = Wrong Square Footage
• 12 = Cannot use LA phone # for Owner phone #
