Message from our CEO
Habitat Heartland is starting 2020 with the opening of a brand new ReStore location in North West London. Watch for the official Grand Opening soon but until then please consider shopping, donating and volunteering at the ReStore at 611 Wonderland Road North as well as at any of our 6 existing locations. Save up to 80% off retail prices while you keep some of your home renovation goals for the New Year. From building materials and home décor to sports and fitness equipment, you never know what you might find during a trip to the ReStore. Stop by often to see what is new on the sales floor.
This is the final month to buy tickets for She Shed/He Shed with the draw for two winners taking place on February 2 at the London Lifestyle Home Show. Proceeds from ticket sales will be directed toward costs associated with our
home building projects.

Last year`s sheds (pictured above) were a huge success! She Shed He Shed, presented by Old Hickory Buildings is back by popular demand! Two teams in friendly competition from London District Construction Association's Women in Construction will decorate a shed each, one for “him” and one for “her”, incorporating items from the Habitat ReStore.

The sheds will be on display at London Home Builders Association's Lifestyle Home Show (January 31-February 2) at the Western Fair District Agriplex. Raffle tickets will be sold leading up to and at the home show. Corus is the media partner for this event, and will broadcast live from the sheds at the home show. Thanks to our generous sponsors 100% of the funds raised from ticket sales will go toward building homes in our community.

Tickets $10 each or 3 for $20 are available in each of our 6 ReStores and online at: habitat4home.ca

Genworth Meaning of Home Contest Open to Entries until February 21, 2020
Grades 4, 5 and 6 students across Canada are invited to submit a poem or essay explaining what home means to them. It’s a great way for students to engage in an interactive and fun way, and it teaches youth the importance of safe, affordable housing. Each entry results in a $10 donation to a local Habitat and the winner in each grade gets to direct a $30,000 grant to a local Habitat build. Nine runners-up (3 per grade) will also get to direct a $10,000 grant towards a local Habitat build. Additional prizes include an iPad, and class pizza party for each of the grand prize winners. Sign up to be on the email list now!

Cities face the challenge of absorbing new residents fast without further widening the existing social gaps between citizens. Read more
