A Message from the Executive Director
Happy New Year! I hope that 2020 is filled with health and happiness for you and yours.

2020 promises to be a special year for Uplift as we celebrate and recognize our 20th Anniversary as the City of Philadelphia's children's bereavement organization! This year will include special events and celebrations, and I look forward to sharing exciting announcements with you in the coming months.

As one of our first exciting announcements, I'm proud to share that we are expanding our geographic service locations in 2020. We've added two new locations for Family Services Groups in North Philadelphia and Center City, allowing us to provide support to more children in the city! Additionally, we have expanded our in-school grief support to Camden, providing groups in a number of Camden Mastery Schools.

In addition to this geographic expansion, we have been able to expand the specialization of our services, providing Spanish-language In-School Grief Groups. We have also partnered with the Medical Examiner’s office and are providing community groups for those who have experience the death of someone close to them due to opioids or an overdose death.

Finally, our clinical team has been at the forefront of the City’s crisis response to the violence that took the lives of more than 100 youth under the age of 18 in 2019. We will continue our work with the City’s Network of Neighbors and our signature crisis response legacy groups to support the youth grieving these losses.

We look forward to where 2020 will take us – stay tuned for more updates! We're so grateful for your continued support through it all.
New Family Services Sites Are Open!
Uplift is proud to announce new Family Services sites in North Philadelphia and Center City. Responding to community needs, we've partnered with the Lenfest Center in North Philadelphia and the Church of the Holy Trinity in Center City to offer grief support groups for children, youth, teens, and caregivers. Click on the fliers below for more information or call the Uplift office at 267-437-3123, and please help us spread the word about our new locations!
Grief Support for Overdose Deaths
Thanks to a generous STOP (Supporting Treatment and Overdose Prevention) grant from the  Independence Blue Cross  Foundation, Uplift is expanding its programming to include much-needed grief support for children affected by a death due to substance abuse or overdose. Offered in partnership with the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office, children and adults are welcome at Uplift’s East Falls office from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month.

If you or someone you know are interested in learning more, please contact Substance Abuse Focused School and Community Clinician Joy Mosley at joy@upliftphilly.org or 267-437-3123, ext. 1004.
