The judge promised to render an opinion "expeditiously." Meanwhile, the TRO stays in place and no work is to be done on the site.

ACT NOW!
Urge water managers to think outside the box for Southern Reservoir
Deadline: Tuesday, January 9
Senate President and Everglades Foundation urge consideration of larger footprint

To meet the requirements of Senate Bill 10, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD or “the District”) has spent months evaluating and modeling available water storage and treatment options for a reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee. Senate President Joe Negron, Republican of Stuart, who pushed for the passage of the legislation, expressed his concern in a December 14th letter to SFWDM , suggesting that the district isn’t thinking boldly enough nor exhausting all the options available under the law. And in a letter dated December 19th, the Everglades Foundation urged the District to consider an alternative solution, one that would net 360,000 acre-feet of storage, on a slightly larger footprint.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT! The District has until January 9 to present recommended options and its “ability to obtain lease modifications and acquire land.” Clearly this legislation intends land acquisition to be considered as an option!
