Dear Friends for Life,

As we begin a new year and a new decade, we are excited to announce a dramatically
re-structured Respect Life Office with a renewed vision. We are so grateful to Bishop Barres, Fr. McCartney, Fr. Fasano and Sr. Maryanne for the quiet but diligent preparation over the last several months that has brought Donna Crean and me to lead the Office along with the persevering Pat Fox. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Col. 3:17)
Hundreds of thousands will gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on January 24, 2020 to March for Life.
In the midst of this great challenge surrounding the messaging about women and abortion, the March for Life team has chosen a unique theme, one designed to challenge the culture and to offer clarity and hope: “Life Empowers: Pro-Life is Pro-Woman.”

Come Join Our Bishop John Barres and the Diocese of Rockville Centre along with hundreds of thousands of Catholics and others in solidarity for a pilgrimage of public witness, penance and prayer for all those affected by the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, and for the conversion of those who misguidedly perpetuate it. We look forward once again to a unified and powerful stand against the Roe v. Wade decision!

If you are unable to join us please know that your prayers and sacrifices on this day and everyday are needed and appreciated for this important mission of transforming the Culture of Death to a Culture of LIFE!

If you are interested in going on a Diocesan bus for more information please call the Office of Human Life, Family and Bioethics at 516-678-5800 ext. 381 or 626. Or email us at respectlife@drvc.org

Office of Human Life, Family and Bioethics
“Respect Life!”
Opens With Consecration to the Blessed Mother
On the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Thursday December 12, 2019 the Office of Human Life, Family and Bioethics team, Dr. Lisa Honkanen, Donna Crean and Pat Fox consecrated themselves, the important mission of the office and the whole Diocese to our Blessed Mother. Fr. John McCartney blessed us and the office as we pledged ourselves under Our Lady of Guadalupe’s patronage to profess courageously and at all times the truths of our Holy Catholic Faith.

A special promise was made to Our Lady that we will do all in our power, aided by God’s grace to protect and enhance the sacredness of all human life, from the moment of natural conception to the moment of natural death, and to strive to transform the Culture of Death in which we live, into the Culture of Life which the Lord intends. We entrust all to the Immaculate Heart of Mary so that through her we will fulfill all that our Lord Jesus is calling us to do to bring about His Kingdom here on earth. In compassion and love, may we bring, Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the LIFE to those we serve and encounter so that God will be glorified in all we do.
