Jasper County CATE Completers Ceremony

Thursday, May 16th, Dr. Hart and the CTE Family recognized Jasper County's 73 completers.

Senior Ms. Lamika Walker, Miss RSAE, Class of 2024, and former completer, Ms. Hannah Reilley, (Class of 2021) were speakers at the event. They both shared words of encouragement to our completers. Ms. Reilley impressed upon the seniors to seize every opportunity and not be afraid to say yes to what makes them uncomfortable when it comes to taking on new challenges.

This year, each completer program on both campuses was asked to submit their CTE Student of the Year for their perspective programs.

There were five students recognized, and they are as follows:

  • Angelica Herrera for Health Science (RSAE),
  • Sole Bennett for Family and Consumer Science (HJSHS),
  • Oswaldo Trejo' for Aerospace Engineering (HJSHS),
  • Santiago Ortiz-Perez for Information Support & Services (RSAE), and Amariyana Rollins for Cyber Security (RSAE).

The Jasper County CTE Student of the Year is Santiago Ortiz-Perez. We were elated to have board members, personnel from both campuses and especially our parents. We had an amazing turnout and only expect this program to continue to grow.

Dr. Anderson Completes AASA Howard Urban Superintendents

Congratulations to our very own superintendent, Dr. Rechel Anderson, for the completion of the 2023-2024 AASA Howard Urban Superintendents Academy - Cohort 9! Dr. Anderson participated in her last sessions May 18-19, 2024, in Alexandria, VA.

We know that she will apply all concepts gleaned to keep her tools sharpened, and her focus on the main thing...our students!

We are proud of Dr. Anderson for remaining a life-long learner, and not letting any of the distractions deter her from serving as JCSD's leader and leading unapologetically for the betterment of all students!

The importance and value of a landmark program such as the AASA/Howard University Urban Superintendents Academy align with historic and current national and local social challenges. The goal of the program is to be proactive, deliberative, and visionary and accept the responsibility of developing effective urban leaders who effectively address equity as a core value. Dr. Anderson has worked tirelessly to transform teaching and learning in Jasper County School District.
