Stop By Our New Gallery At Phipps
As many of you know, I closed the studio at Phipps Plaza last March. Much of the reasoning behind this move had to do with the fact that more and more of my clients were asking to have their portraits  created in their homes or gardens. I soon realized that the comfort level of the client was much higher in these situations, especially for children, and since my portraits are all about personalities and relationships, this workflow is a perfect fit. The portraits that I have been creating in my clients' homes are indeed some of my very best.
Soon after we left the old studio, however, a client said to me, "Jay, people need to see your work in person, and without a gallery space in Atlanta, you're doing us an injustice." It is true that viewing an image online is just not the same as seeing the matted and framed portrait and imagining how it could look in your home. So when the opportunity for a temporary gallery space became available at Phipps Plaza, we decided to start there. Meeting with potential clients in our sleek, modern space gives us the opportunity to not only show the work to them, but also to discuss on a friendly, face-to-face level exactly what their portrait needs are.
Nothing has really changed about my photography since I closed the Phipps Plaza studio, but the gallery concept offers a place to display my portraits and to discuss what my clients can do in their homes with their portraits.
The gallery also provides me with a venue for showing my other photographic work such as the images that I took in Haiti after their recent devastating earthquake or the exciting Faces of Science project that I have been working on for over a year now. I am always looking for new opportunities and new locations around the country to show my work.
