Jazz Club Season Back To Stay
Cancellation of Events Over!
This past week the Jazz Club Board of Directors met in special session and voted unanimously to go forward with our full season beginning in October. Four variables contributed to this decision:

...1. 90%+ of our typical audience is vaccinated
...2. Overwhelming % of new cases are unvaccinated
...3. Daily cases dropped by 32% over past 3 weeks
...4. We now have a legal process for controlling
.......admission to events.

The Covid-19 pandemic is not over and it still represents a serious threat to our community. This is particularly true for the unvaccinated and those with serious pre-existing health conditions. New variants are likely to continue to emerge which will have to be monitored closely.

With the identification of legal audience screening tools, the Board decided that it can produce reasonably safe events; however, each of us will have to decided for ourselves what our vulnerabilities are and what level of risk we are willing to take.

New Covid Policy/Requirements

The Jazz Club will produce nearly a hundred performances over the next twelve months in a variety of both indoor and outdoor venues. While there will be some differences from site to site, the policy below will be in place for ALL Jazz Club produced events. This will include:

Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival
Giving Hunger The Blues Music Festival
High School Band Competition
Jazz At 2
Jazz on Sarasota Bay
Jazz Trolley Pub Crawl
Joy of Jazz
Monday Night Jazz Cabaret
Sunset Jazz at the Crosley
and other Special Events TBA

Now that we have committed to a full jazz season we need you to Commit to the Jazz Club!

We currently have about 500 active members, with about the same number that haven't yet renewed. That's understandable given the last 18 months. But we need you to step-up and renew your membership now.

Memberships are the foundation that makes everything else possible!

Late Musician's Collection Seeks Home

The Jazz Club was recently contacted by Ellen Goldberg about her father's passing in August. Ellen wrote:

"My father who recently located to Sarasota from St Petersburg recently passed away at the age of 92. He was a jazz pianist and performed professionally throughout his lifetime in NY, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. Known as Doc Goldfinger professionally he played in many groups and associated with such musicians as John Lamb. He leaves volumes of gig books with set lists and music and we are trying to find a home for them." Many thanks, Ellen Goldberg
