April is Jazz Appreciation Month!
Join Jazz Bridge in celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month as we have gone back into the archives to bring you concerts from the Philadelphia Real Book.

Jazz Bridge will broadcast pianist, Dave Burrell in concert on Wednesday, April 14. Watch it on Jazz Bridge's website at 7 pm.


Distinguished composer-pianist Dave Burrell is an African-American performing artist of singular stature on the international contemporary music scene. His dynamic compositions with blues and gospel roots recall the tradition of Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson and Duke Ellington, as well as avant garde composers Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane.

Dave Burrell is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including National Endowment for the Arts, Philadelphia Music Foundation, William J. Cooper Foundation, New York State Council on the Arts, Pennsylvania State Council on The Arts, MidAtlantic Foundation, John Garcia Gensel Award, and the Pew Fellowship in Jazz Composition. On March 4, 2017, Jazz Bridge had the pleasure of presenting in a solo setting, piano legend, Dave Burrell. This concert was at Terra Hall on the campus of the University of the Arts and was supported by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.

These virtual concerts are presented by a generous donation from Paulette “Micki” Singleton to honor those musicians we lost to COVID.
