Church Square Park
This story time and celebration opens with "Books on the Move," celebrating artists of color with interactive readings of picture books about musical icons and artistic legends.
This season’s book is Playing at the Border: A Story of Yo-Yo Ma by Joanna Ho and illustrated by Teresa Martinez.
"Jazz in the Stacks" follows story time. Listen to musicians filling Church Square Park, across the street from the Hoboken Public Library, with the sounds of smooth jazz.
The series features performances by TD Jazz for Teens, NJPAC’s signature Arts Education program, bringing the next generation of musical sensations to different library branches each month.

Meet Riley Maverick Mills, the star of our Read With a Therapy Dog program!
This beloved program pairs early readers with a friendly, certified therapy dog for a relaxed, judgment-free reading experience that builds confidence and makes practicing out loud genuinely fun. Books will be available to choose from, and every participant takes home a special Riley-themed gift and coloring page.
L&B Healthy Pets Market will also be on site with free giveaways for registered attendees, so be sure to sign up in advance.
Open to children ages 6 and up.

Mother's Day is coming and we have the perfect way to celebrate!
Join us for a special printmaking workshop where children, teens, and adults can create one-of-a-kind prints to honor the special people in their lives. Using foam sheets and markers, participants will carve or draw their own designs, ink them up, and transfer the image onto paper or fabric to take home as a heartfelt, handmade gift. No experience necessary and no complicated setup required, just creativity and a little bit of fun. This technique is beginner-friendly and so enjoyable that many participants find it becomes a favorite activity to recreate at home long after the workshop is over.
Open to all ages, with children ages 6 and up welcome when accompanied by an adult. RSVP required.

Join Ms. Val for a Pickle Party where participants will make their own pickled cucumbers using a quick, easy pickling recipe. A little chopping is involved, but the results are absolutely worth it.
Did you know that in the early 1900s, Jewish immigrants launched New York City's first commercial pickle district on the Lower East Side, with over eighty vendors hauling homemade pickles on pushcarts by the 1920s? Now it's your turn to carry on the tradition.
Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis, so arrive early to claim your spot at the jar.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Hoboken Public Library is marking it with something meaningful.
In partnership with Bridgeway, the library is launching a new Mental Health Awareness Series designed to connect our community with trusted information, compassionate support, and local resources. This first session covers behavioral health services, depression awareness, and suicide prevention, creating a respectful, non-judgmental space where mental health can be discussed openly and honestly. Participants will learn how to recognize when someone may benefit from additional support and how to access care for themselves or someone they love. This series is built on the belief that seeking support is a sign of strength, and that communities grow stronger when we talk about the things that matter most.
Please note that sensitive topics will be discussed; attendees are encouraged to participate at their own comfort level. Registration required.
