Jeff Bravin Honored

with Hartford Business Journal C-Suite Award

The Executive Leadership Team at the American School for the Deaf (ASD) is proud to announce that Executive Director Jeffrey S. Bravin has been honored as the recipient of a Hartford Business Journal C-Suite award.

These awards honor top-performing C-Suite level executives in the Greater Hartford area who demonstrate a commitment to good ethics, reporting, and community involvement while significantly contributing to their organization's overall growth.

Nominees are evaluated in several areas, including leadership within their industries, continued professional development, significant professional and personal achievements, as well as their organization’s financial performance.

Since rising to his position in 2014, Jeff’s leadership and vision have resulted in the steady growth of ASD, and the continuation of our school’s pioneering legacy through the launch of several new programs and initiatives. His leadership has strengthened ASD’s reputation as a leader in educational excellence and increased our footprint nationally and abroad. Jeff is committed to advancing our school’s programs to continually meet the evolving needs of deaf and hard of hearing students while maintaining a pulse on emerging trends in deaf education. Upon recognizing the need for accessible online education for deaf and hard of hearing students, Jeff worked to establish ASD’s Online Academy – the first accessible online education platform for deaf and hard of hearing students everywhere. In the two years since its launch, the Online Academy has more than tripled its numbers served while making a profound difference in the lives of students around the world.

In addition to his role as Executive Director at the American School for the Deaf, Jeff is also President of the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD), which is a national organization that supports and promotes effective leadership to advance education programs for deaf and hard of hearing children. He is often called upon to provide guidance and support to schools for the deaf across the country in such areas as strategic planning, infrastructure support, and culture improvement.

Jeff’s main focus is always to provide the best education possible for deaf and hard of hearing students. He travels around the globe presenting on deaf education and providing tools to help international educators support students with hearing loss. Through his travels, Jeff meets countless students and families who often do not have access to an equitable education in their home countries. He often provides scholarships to these students to attend ASD or works with their country’s home government to create a path to our school. The result has been the increased acceptance of international students to our campus from such locations as the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan.

Jeff Bravin is a respected leader within the statewide and national Deaf Community. He shares his expertise through his involvement on several Boards of Directors, including the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD), the American Society of Deaf Children, and the Connecticut Council on Organizations Serving the Deaf. Jeff also serves on the Connecticut Advisory Board for Persons who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or DeafBlind through which he helps to advise the Governor and advocate on behalf of the hearing loss communities in our State.
