To honor former Poteau Mayor, Jeff Shockley, Connie Shockley and Tyler Shockley have started a fundraising campaign for the Jeff Shockley Memorial Project. The funds raised will help purchase flags and lighting for the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center. Jeff was instrumental in getting the center built, which opened November 16, 2011. It is the largest convention and meeting venue in LeFlore County. The MCO Board of Directors is donating $500 towards the project, with hopes that other mayors and city officials from across the state will donate, as well.
