| | STOPPING THE INVASION!!!! | | |
Six neighbors, aka the "Goathead Guerillas," filled eight enormous garbage bags full with the plants and their stickers. The group made a dent, but there are many more areas to tackle. There was one corner on Elm and Lester that was only ½ completed, and just that task filled two bags. Thank you to Erin, Jeanne, Bonnie, Laurel-Heather, Micheal, and Cindy.
Got some by your curb? Get 'em ASAP before they take over!

Traffic Circle at Edison and Fremont: Was hit and the metal art upended in August. This week, we met with the metal fabricator to look at the damage and discuss the necessary repairs. He will also reinstall a panel that was damaged at Lester and Highland traffic circle.
Traffic Circle at Lester and Santa Rita: The City removed the damaged sculpture. Next step is to design a new piece of permanent art to be installed in the circle. The new art piece could reflect the historic area that surrounds it. It is located at the intersection in the area where several Annie Lester homes were built. Annie Lester was Jefferson Park's original homesteader. This is a more complicated process, so stay tuned for updates.
| | |
How are the repairs or replacement of artwork in traffic circles funded?
Looks like it will be Jefferson Park! The City has very limited funding and a sizeable backlog of repairs and replacement of public art.
| | Help with the Funding - Sell Jim Click Tickets | | |
The Jim Click Millions for Tucson 2025 edition has begun! Mr. Click is raffling off three great prizes this year: the Grand Prize is a new 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid SX Prestige (MSRP $54,510). Bottom line - overhead lines are NOT a done deal! They are not good for Jefferson Park!
The neighborhood and Underground Arizona disagree with overheading lines in Jefferson Park. The city still has the ability to prevent overheading as per the U of A Area Plan. The city has not yet approved the substation, nor the overhead lines.

NOVEMBER 4 ELECTION
Ballots mailed out October 8
Vote by mail by Oct 28

MARCH SPECIAL ELECTION...
Finish Our Grant Rd Project!
...if the 1/2 cent sales tax passes in March
| |
Plan to go before Voters in March
The election for the plan and a half-cent sales tax to fund it will be held on March 10, 2026.
The proposed plan would fund arterial roadway reconstruction, roadway corridor improvements, existing and expanded transit services, environmental protection, small business assistance, and safety, ADA and active transportation improvements.
The ongoing self-taxing investment, if approved in March, would not increase the current tax rate.
.....
Included in the plan total is $257.6 million to complete seven roadway corridor projects from the original RTA plan, which Pima County voters approved in 2006. The projects either are re-scoped or require additional funding that require voter approval. That is the Grant Road section on JP's north boundary. (PAG Sept 18 newsletter)
