"Spending this last summer by myself painting in Paris without expectations was very refreshing for me. Being able to disconnect from my daily routine, opening up to new experiences, and focusing more on my art process guided me to reflect on my work. I truly believe inspiration should be accompanied by passion and consistency; connected with a healthy and sustainable state of mind and body.
I started to paint on paper a few months ago and entitled that series 'BOOMERANG,' but I wasn't sure if I was heading in the right direction. One of my most treasured artists is Picasso and I wanted to have something related to him on my limited Parisian BOOMERANG series. One day in Paris I heard the 'click' in my head, which usually happens when I'm more distracted. After walking around the city looking for ideas, I found this newspaper with a note about Picasso and I started hunting from kiosk to kiosk in Paris to get more newspapers. I thought I could use them as a background for the Parisian BOOMERANG series. Now the BOOMERANG series on paper are one of my favorite series to create! " ~ Katya Saab
