Conversation Skills
In today’s technological age people have lost the art of good conversation. We spend so much time staring at screens. Many individuals are more comfortable sending a text message or an email instead of having a face to face conversation. Do you describe yourself as outgoing or shy? Regardless of how you answered there are 3 conversation skills that will benefit you in your business and personal lives. They are:
1.
Enjoy
2.
Explore
3.
Exchange
Enjoying a conversation is listening generously. This includes not only hearing the words, but also the needs of your conversation partner.
Exploring a conversation means are you curious? Are you asking questions? Listening is active, you must give your undivided attention and focus.
Exchange is where you share. Listen for opportunities to contribute, offer a resource, an idea, an introduction or just a word of encouragement.
Remember it takes 6 to 8 contacts with someone before you know them well enough to have established a long-term business relationship.

US Chamber of Commerce
Trade & Tariffs
- Share Your Tariffs Impact Story - The tariffs imposed by the U.S. on our trading partners have prompted approximately $75 billion worth of retaliatory tariffs on American products. Now the administration is preparing or considering hundreds of billions of dollars in additional tariffs - including on autos and auto parts - all of which will invite more retaliation against American businesses. To put an end to this, we are lobbying and educating the administration and Congress. You can help us build a compelling and persuasive case for ending the trade war by encouraging your members to share their story of how tariffs are impacting them. Click here to share how tariffs are impacting your member companies.
- How Will Tariffs Affect Exports in My State – A new analysis by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce outlines the state-by-state impact of retaliatory tariffs from China, the European Union, Mexico, and Canada, which have been imposed in response to new U.S. tariffs on imported goods. The analysis shows how much of each state’s exports are threatened by retaliatory tariffs, highlights each state’s hardest-hit products, and shows the total number of jobs supported by global trade in each state, illustrating exactly what American families and consumers stand to lose in a potential trade war. Click here to see how tariffs will affect businesses in your state.
