Promoting Your Business Through Donating to Local Nonprofits
|
We are entering in the busiest time of the year. Businesses a receiving request daily to donate to one cause or another. Focusing on charitable causes and nonprofits can boost your company’s image. Research shows that small business charitable contributions can help companies connect with their customers and their community.
It does not matter what kind of business you have, you can always find a way to incorporate charitable donations into your business plan. Donating to a charity or local nonprofit builds relationships and shows people that you’re giving back to the communities that support you.
Companies do not need a huge marketing budget to give back. Rather than writing checks or donating food to good causes, it is more beneficial to companies to sponsor some of the charitable events. This could be in the form of a check written as the main sponsor, the benefit you get is that your company name and logo will be associated with that event. If you have a smaller budget, consider donating items for a raffle or sending employees as volunteers. There are so many ways to get involved.
How do you decided which nonprofit cause to support when you have daily requests? I had a CEO tell me that he only invested in causes that were employee driven. He found that by supporting causes that were near and dear to his employees lead to increased employee morale and employee retention.
Be sure the charity or nonprofit mirrors your company’s goals. If your clothing company, you may consider sponsoring the t-shirts the volunteers will wear. By getting involved it not shows community support and builds trust with consumers. Another great benefit is that donations are a tax deduction. Making regular charitable giving as a part of your business plan can have a great impact on your business.
Don’t forget your local Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit and we offer many opportunities to sponsor and donate throughout the year. Contact us today to learn more.
